Edmonton Floorball League Returns

The Edmonton Floorball Committee is excited to announce that the Edmonton Floorball League will return in November.

EDMONTON (October 13, 2014) — The Edmonton Floorball Committee announced today that its league competition, the Edmonton Floorball League, will re-commence operations in November 2014.

Founded in 2006-07, the Edmonton Floorball League has provided Alberta's provincial and Canada's national floorball teams with some of North America's top floorball players. The 2014-15 season will hope to build on that, sending at least 10 players from its league rosters to play for an Albertan delegation at the Canada Cup in Toronto, ON during Victoria Day long weekend in May 2015.

The league now has a permanent home at FloorballYEG.com. On this website, free agents and teams can register to play in the upcoming season, and now have the option of paying online. This process will streamline existing technologies and will also allow the organization to provide ease of registration for camps, tournaments, and social events.

Dates and times for the league have yet to be confirmed, but matches will be played in at least 3 different venues and will run beginning November 2014 until May/June 2015. Matches will be played 4-on-4, with two 15-minute periods, and are Co-Ed. Registration fees for the entire season will range between $250 and $300, plus GST. Returning clubs include Northern Lights FC, who currently hold back-to-back Alberta Cup championships from 2013 and 2014.

The Edmonton Floorball Committee has jurisdiction over the operations of the sport of floorball in the municipalities of Edmonton, Fort Saskatchewan, Leduc, Spruce Grove, and St. Albert, among other towns, villages, and municipal districts.

Floorball has been played in the Greater Edmonton Area since the year 2002, where it was first introduced to inner-city schools in Edmonton as 'unihockey'.
